Isabel was absolutely incredible to work with, I can't thank her enough!! The florals were so stunning and truly brought our whole wedding vision together. They were beyond what I could have even imagined. Herself and her team were so professional the day off, they arrived to the venue nice and early, had every space set up in time and stayed to transform our ceremony pieces into our reception space. She truly brought my vision to life and was so kind to work with. One of the best decisions with made with our wedding!

The Gathering Florist

5.0

  • Starts at $1,000
  • Serves New York, NY

My best friend Rose was planning her wedding and asked if I would arrange the flowers. I absolutely loved being creative and being part of her special day. The next week I enrolled in Flower School and after I finished my studies I started The Gathering florist and haven’t looked back!

Awarded Best of Zola
Wow, we had such an amazing experience working with The Gathering Florist. Victoria is incredible to work with. She is easy to communicate with and responds promptly to your questions. We loved her personality as well, she is super approachable and fun to collaborate with. She fully captured our mood board, but even greater than we imagined. For context, my brother who works in events helped to curate/elevate our mood board and felt she did a beautiful job! We loved the ambiance she created with the florals and candles at our venue, Giando on the Water. I would 1000 percent recommend her as a florist. Although we didn’t have a coordinator for our wedding, if we did have one, we definitely would have booked her services! Truly a great experience working with her, no notes!

I cannot express enough how incredible my experience was with Melissa! From the moment I first contacted her about our wedding, I was met with so much warmth, professionalism and kindness - we vibed instantly and I knew she was the only person I wanted to be a part of our special day. What truly touched my heart (and made me cry!) was the beautiful card she wrote me that she included when she hand-delivered my bouquet to our hotel room. It was such a thoughtful gesture that showed how much she cares about her clients and their stories. The attention to detail was extraordinary; she even included a specific type of rose in my bouquet that holds such special meaning! Melissa took the time to understand my vision and brought it to life in the most breathtaking way!! The arrangements were not only stunning but also perfectly matched the inspiration board I sent her. On the day of the wedding, everything was set up flawlessly and looked absolutely beautiful. Andrew brought our vision to light with the most honest, daring, clear, stunning, and B E A U T I F U L authenticity any bride could dream of. We knew the floral aesthetic were going to be a key to bring component for bringing to life the centering our BIG Black Queer Love. Since it was a very intentional Black queer celebration honoring our love and commitment, the floral choices and expertise Andrew brought was the linchpin to success, from the very beginning with our first "Get-to-know-each-other" call throughout the process including a venue walk-through up right through the big day. He ensured each detail of our wedding arrangements conveyed our intention while centering our rustic elegant color palette -- a compliment to the autumnal mountain backdrop and made us feel so seen. The impeccable creativity Andrew brought to our more traditional accents -- the bridal bouquet and boutonniere, reception harlow stands -- were equally as elevated and aesthetically eye-dropping the energetic accents and more customized requests -- our flower-adorned chuppah, the ceremony wagon for the flower girl, and the floral chandelier. Andrew's energy is infectious and his preparation and seamless operation always gave us one less thing to worry about during the planning process. He uses an online system to track all exchanges and works with you to find inspirational images to ensure what you imagined is what will transpire on the day of. He also went out of his way to understand how his floral arrangement choices would adapt to any new details as planning unfolded, like ensuring the bridal bouquet perfectly replicated the vibrancy of peak fall foliage. I cannot stress enough that Andrew is the way to go!! He will ensure your special day has the visual energy for bringing to life all the love, connectedness, intimacy, excitement, and emotion of your wedding day!

Bardin Palomo

5.0

New York, NY
  • Starts at $20,000

We design unique and extraordinary weddings! Site specific design, custom service, and excellent quality are characteristics of our style. We work with you to bring your personal style and vision to life! Our team possesses an intuitive comprehension of diverse lifestyles, tastes and aesthetics which we successfully translate into a dynamic visual vocabulary creating truly unique environments.

Words cannot describe how absolutely beautiful Robert Bardin and Robert Palomo made our wedding. We were married in an old rope factory in Greenpoint Brooklyn (Greenpoint Loft) which is a completely raw space. Their team arrived the second the venue opened and transformed the industrial loft into a quiet oasis of greens and the most beautiful flowers we have ever seen. They designed everything, from the tables for the reception to lights over the dance floor. They made suggestions that made the space much more welcoming (beautiful boxwood panels behind the ceremony) and lit the entire room with the most beautiful candlelight and spotlights. We didn't have to stress about anything! We heard more than one time that it was the most beautiful wedding they have ever attended. Thank you so much!!! Highly recommended!!

Flowers by Daye

5.0

New York, NY
  • Starts at $1,500

Flowers by Daye is one of New York City's most distinctive floral design studios. Its founder and creative force, Daye Deura, uses her unmistakable mélange of innovation and tradition to transform event spaces and film sets into floral dreamscapes and important moments into the full gamut of momentous occasions: weddings, product launches, outdoor garden parties, fundraisers, photo shoots, one-time galas, daily or weekly flower arrangements for offices, hotels and residences. Flowers by Daye has demonstrated floral arrangements at Macy's annual flower shows. Flowers by Daye is listed and featured in New York Magazine wedding issues.

Flowers by Daye was an absolute pleasure to work with for our wedding! From our initial consultation, her communication style was thoughtful, focused, and advisory - she really took the time to understand our vision and provide helpful guidance. After connecting with her and checking availability, she started off with a phone call to get to know us better and get an idea of what we were looking for. A few months later, we met in person at the flower district to look through different options (floral and decorative). She was always available through email and text, and due to her experience in the industry, was a great calming support to have through the planning process. The quality of her work was exceptional, with a level of detail personalization that exceeded our expectations. Both of us knew very little about flowers, so she helped advise us on which flowers would be in season and would work with our palette. She also helped us stay within our budget and still maximize the wow effect. I worked with her on the side to add a surprise "something blue" Texas Bluebonnet to my bouquet for the groom (his state flower). We were even able to adjust the boutonnieres a few days prior to ensure everything was perfect. Plus, she added flowers and decorating the cake at no additional cost! Additionally, her knowledge of the venue allowed her to provide tailored recommendations for the floral arrangements, as she knew generally the set up, lighting, and colors. Everything turned out beautifully - the arrangements were somehow both delicate and bold, and truly helped bring our vision to life. We are so grateful to the team at Flowers by Daye for helping make our day so incredible. Thank you, Daye!

In 2013, 8-year wedding veteran Amy McCord Jones realizes she wouldn't be able to afford to hire her own floral services if she was a bride. Then, Amy discovers that there is basically zero help available for DIY brides. No flower recipes. No instructions. No access to florist-grade blooms. Rude. So she launches Flower Moxie! Flower Moxie remains a humble, tucked-away small business out of Oklahoma City. We don’t zoom around on scooters in some fancy high-rise. We stock an average kitchen with canned wine and Aldi chips and listen to true crime podcasts while photographing curvy ranunculus. Join us. There’s cake, hugs, and acceptance here.

I recommend 100% using flower moxie if you want to DIY your flowers. My cousin used them for her wedding and had a great experience so I decided to use for mine as well. I was worried since my wedding was on a Sunday that a Thursday delivery would have my flowers wilting by the time of the actual wedding. It was perfect. The flowers lasted so long. The recipes for the arrangements are easy to follow. Everyone loved my florals and was surprised it was DIY. I would totally use them again.

Violet Hour is a recurring daydream brought to life for owner and founder Amy Gilday. After 16 years of practicing law, working with flowers on the side every chance she got, Amy left her job to become a florist. With the love and support of her amazing wife, two spoiled cats, and dear friends and family, she launched Violet Hour Floral Design in her beloved home of Brooklyn, NY. She’s never been happier.

So happy Amy helped with our wedding flowers! She was so communicative, collaborative and caring throughout it all. We provided some direction, but she had to creatively fill in the gaps. The colors she chose were so beautiful and unique. She also really delivered on our big request - a floral arch. She made it work visually and structurally! It was so beautiful. What questions should I ask when booking a wedding florist?

Florists offer a range of different services that you'll want to ask about before you book. For example:

  • Do they offer rentals of structures and additional decor?
  • Can they create mockups or sample arrangements?
  • Will they assist with flower preservation if that's something you're interested in?
  • Is breakdown/cleanup included in the package?
  • How far in advance should I book a florist in New York City?

In the hustle and bustle of New York City, timing is everything—even when it comes to locking down those petal-perfect arrangements. The truth is, the earlier, the better. Aim to find your florist at least 9-10 months before your wedding date, especially if you're eyeing a sought-after florist or if you're getting married during peak wedding season. This gives you ample time to work with them on how to bring your creative vision to life.

What seasonal flowers are available for weddings in NYC?

Here's a little pro tip: embracing in-season flowers not only captures the mood of the moment, but could also be a savvy move for your budget! Chat with your florist about what's blossoming around your big day—they'll help bring your floral visions to life without the additional markup on imported blooms. So, ready to let the seasons be your guide? Spring struts in with sweet tulips and fragrant hyacinths, while summer boasts hydrangeas and cheerful sunflowers. Rich dahlias and amber-hued calla lilies peak in fall, and elegant amaryllis and romantic red roses will brighten up the coziest winter wedding.

What happens to flowers after the wedding in NYC?

Your wedding flowers helped make your day magical. But what happens to them when you and your crew head to the after party? If you want to do more than just offer them to your guests to take home, there are many NYC based organizations that can help you donate leftover flowers to local nursing homes, hospitals, and more, so some of the joy of your day can live on.

Do florists in NYC rent out decorative items like vases and arches?

Absolutely, most of NYC's florists are not only about petals and stems. Think of them as the set decorators for your big day, offering a beautiful selection of vases, arches, candles and other décor extras that bring your vision to life. Gorgeous glassware to show off those long-stemmed roses? Check! Majestic arches that turn your aisle into a fairytale gateway? You bet. And here's the cherry on top: it's often more budget-friendly and definitely kinder to the planet to rent from your florist rather than buying stuff you'll use just once. So, if you're looking to create an enchanting atmosphere without the clutter of "what do I do with this now?" after the big day, talk to your florist about rental options. They'll have you covered with items that complement your blooms and elevate your venue from "oh" to "oh, wow."
